Hilton Exchange Cup U14

Welcome to the Easter Games – an International U14 Ice Hockey Tournament!

The Finland–USA Exchange between Viikingit Jääkiekko ry and the US ice hockey team Haverford Hawks is one of the longest-running international friendship and cultural exchanges in Finnish junior ice hockey. The partnership began in 1999, and nearly three decades later it continues to bring together young players from two continents through ice hockey, friendship and shared experiences. The exchange is about much more than playing hockey: its purpose is to build international friendships and create memories that last a lifetime.

In spring 2027, Viikingit U14 will host Haverford Hawks (USA) in Finland. The highlight of the exchange week will be a high-quality international tournament for U14 teams, held over the Easter weekend.

Number of teams and tournament format

The tournament has three levels: AAA, AA and A. A total of 12 teams can participate, with four teams at each level. Viikingit and Haverford Hawks will each enter one team at every level.

Games will be played on two rinks. Each team will play every other team in its group once in the Round Robin. A Championship and bronze medal game will then be played based on the preliminary-round standings. Every team will play four games in total: three preliminary-round games and one placement game. The tournament starts with one game on Thursday evening, continues with two games on Friday, and concludes with the placement games on Saturday.

Each game consists of 3x15 minutes of effective playing time. The maximum duration of a game is 75 minutes. If a placement game is tied, the winner will be decided by a shootout.

Tournament fee

The participation fee is 850€ per team. A non-refundable reservation fee of 200€ per team will be invoiced upon registration, and the remaining balance will be invoiced closer to the tournament. The reservation fee will not be refunded if a team cancels its participation. If the organiser cancels the tournament, all payments will be refunded.

Awards

The top three teams at each level will receive medals, and the winning teams will also receive trophies.

Meals

Lunch and dinner will be available at the ice rink for players and team staff at a cost of 12€ per person.

Meals must be ordered in advance. The preliminary number of diners and details of any special dietary requirements must be emailed to the tournament contact person by 15 March 2027. Meals will be invoiced separately.
