Tournament rules

The tournament will follow Finnish national junior rules with the exceptions listed below.

The playing time is 2 x 20 min. The total playing time is 65 min. The total time starts at the time indicated in the game program, unless otherwise stated by the tournament management. The break between sets is 2 minutes. The total time rule does not apply in medal games.

In the ranking and medal matches, if the game ends in a tie after the regular playing time, the game will immediately continue with a shot-for-shot contest. The field players shoot in the order announced by the coach until a difference is made. Initially, however, 3 players from both teams, then one at a time if necessary, so that the same player does not shoot a second time unless all players have already shot once. The referee draws lots to determine the starting team and the direction of the shot. At the end of the playing time, a player in the penalty box may not participate in the shot-for-shot contest.

Timeouts are not used in the tournament.

No warm-ups are allowed on the ice, and the game begins immediately with the starting lineups. The starting lineup does not need to be named in advance.

The absence of a player's name or number from the scoresheet does not entitle the opposing side to object.

In the AAA tournament, a team may have 4 so-called overage players.

In the AA tournament, a team may have 6 so-called overage players. If there are more overage players, it is required that those players have also played for the team during the previous league season.

Tournament protests will be handled by the tournament jury, whose decision is final. The protest fee is €200.00, which will be refunded if the protest is accepted. Protests regarding match events must be made within 20 minutes of the end of the match. The protest must be signed by the team manager.

Two misconduct penalties received by a player (2 × 10 min misconduct) automatically result in a one-game suspension.

A game misconduct penalty (GM) always leads to a disciplinary review and may also result in a suspension. During the review, the player is allowed to play unless their accumulation of misconduct penalties has been reached or the game misconduct (GM) was issued at the end of the game.

A GM (recorded as 20 minutes) counts as one misconduct penalty, unless it was issued at the end of the game, in which case it results in an automatic one-game suspension.

A GM automatically results in a three (3) game suspension for a team official. The disciplinary authority may impose a longer suspension depending on the case.

The tournament management has the right to change schedules and match order if circumstances require.
